Death Be Proud

By Yamikani Imbe

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so”- John Donne

Swag around
Walk about majestically
Slay these ungrateful souls
In nightclubs and brothels

Toothpick yesterday’s carcass
Toothbrush your hungry jaws
Sort them all, one by one
In rest houses and hotels

Grin arrogantly in anticipation
Never tire Feasting, day in-day out
Light paths to graveyard gates
For soon one is on his way…

Loot them all mercilessly
Because they will not listen.
